The Encyclopedia of Earth (http://www.eoearth.org) is an interesting restricted wiki-based resource about "the Earth, its natural environments, and their interaction with society". It is "a free, fully searchable collection of articles written by scholars, professionals, educators, and experts who collaborate and review each other's work." Content creators are restricted to preserve the credibility of the resource. Read the "About" and "FAQs" section for more information.
This may be a good example when discussing wiki-based resources in a class. Plus, articles are written in non-technical language, so it may be a good supplement to Columbia Earthscape, also.
